A sectional sofa is built from several separate upholstered sections, typically including straight seating pieces and a corner or chaise longue section, joined together to form one large seating arrangement. Because the sections are modular, a sectional can often be rearranged or reconfigured to suit a different room layout.
This makes a sectional a flexible choice for an open plan living room or a space that might change layout in future, since sections can sometimes be added, removed or swapped from side to side.
